Purpose: To provide guidance to Police Officers and Scottish Police Authority/Police Staff on the use of Lawful Business Monitoring (LBM) software in support of Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) investigations
Intended Use: LBM is a tool to mitigate internal corruption and safeguard the reputation of Police Scotland
Roles and Responsibilities: Assistant Chief Constable Professionalism & Assurance is the LBM system asset owner, with oversight from senior management
Business Use and Expectation of Privacy: The system allows monitoring of communications to detect and prevent criminal activity
Appropriate Use: LBM is only used where necessary and justified to prevent crime or corruption
External Requests: Requests for data must be submitted to the Detective Inspector ACU Intelligence
